Classic, Christmas Movies to Watch This Season

December 22, 2017

Let’s face it; the festive season is never really complete without a serious Christmas movie marathon!

Growing up you probably had your favourite Christmas-themed movie to watch during the festive season, and as you got older, you added more classic Christmas films to your collection.

There is also nothing more satisfying than curling up on the couch and watching a Christmas-inspired film after you’ve stuffed yourself with a Christmas feast.

Here are some of our favourite, classic Christmas films that you need to watch with friends and family this season.

The Polar Express

The Polar Express is perhaps one of the most beautifully animated films ever. It follows the story of a boy who jumps aboard The Polar Express and makes his way to the North Pole to see Santa.

The film also stars Tom Hanks in a variety of roles, so you know the voice acting is superb!

A Christmas Carol / Scrooged

A Christmas Carol is perhaps the most classic of all classic Christmas tales.

The book was written by Charles Dickens in 1834, and has captivated people since its first publication. The book has also been made into several movies, plays and musicals over the years.

As you may know, the story follows Ebenezer Scrooge; a cold hearted, selfish man that eventually learns to accept Christmas and the spirit of the season in heart.

It’s up to you which Christmas Carol you want to watch. There is the latest animation one featuring Jim Carrey, a 90’s comedy version starring Bill Murray and there is even a Muppet version of A Christmas Carol.

Love Actually

Often hailed as one of the best romantic comedies to date, Love Actually is a perfect Christmas-time film; and not only because it plays off during Christmas time.

With a stunning ensemble comprising of the creme de la creme of British actors, including Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Keira Knightley and Rowan Atkinson, this film is an absolute treat.

The story follows a few different stories throughout Christmas time and how they interject into one another.

A definite must for the festive season.

So go on and enjoy an evening in front of the TV with your favourite, classic Christmas film!
