Forbes’ Highest-Paid Actors in 2017
Forbes released its annual list of the highest-paid actors in the world. Although equal pay in Hollywood has been a hot topic in recent years, 14 male actors still earned more than Emma Stone, the highest-paid actress in 2017.
Let’s countdown the highest-paid actors this year:
6. Robert Downey Jr.: $48 million
The Iron Man actor once held the title of the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, and while he’s dropped to number six, he is still making millions from superhero movies. This action star made an estimated $48 million from his upfront fees for his upcoming movie Avengers: Infinity War.
5.Jackie Chan: $49 million
Although Chan’s star might not shine as bright as it used to in Hollywood, the actor is still one of China’s biggest movie stars. Chan made millions in China this past year, with his hit films Railroad Tiger and Kung Fu Yoga.
4. Adam Sandler: $50.5 million
Critics aren’t usually fans of his movies, but that won’t stop Sandler laughing all the way to the bank thanks to his four-movie deal with Netflix. The success of Sandler’s Netflix films has the popular streaming site asking the comedian to produce an additional four films.
3. Vin Diesel: $54.5 million
The action star’s millions came from different projects this year, including his roles in Fate of the Furious, and xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, and his vocals as Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2.
2. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson: $65 million
The former WWE star now makes top dollar for his upfront movie fees. This year, fees from his films, Baywatch and Jumanji, along with his salary from HBO hit comedy series, Ballers, put him in the running for the highest-paid actor in the world.
1. Mark Wahlberg: $68 million
Wahlberg had his highest-earning year thanks to movies such as Daddy’s Home 2 and Transformers: The Last Knight, which grossed a combined $5.3 billion worldwide. He also earned cash for his AT&T endorsement, as well as profits from Wahlburgers, the chain of burger restaurants he owns with his family.
