Mark Salling’s Cause of Death
The Los Angeles Coroner have completed their autopsy of Glee star, Mark Salling, and revealed that the actor died from asphyxia by hanging.
The Coroner also confirmed that the 35-year-old’s manner of death was suicide.
Salling was discovered hanging from a tree near a baseball field in the San Fernando Valley on Tuesday.
The disgraced star originally rose to fame playing Noah “Puck” Puckerman in the US television series, Glee, which began airing in 2009.
In December, 2015, Salling was arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography, after a tip-off to police from an ex-girlfriend.
Around 50 000 child abuse images were found in his possession throughout the course of the investigation.
In October, 2017, he struck a plea deal in which he pled guilty to all charges in exchange for a four to seven year sentence.
Salling was due to be sentenced in March this year.
According to a source close to the actor, Salling had completely isolated himself following his conviction, and was “a very depressed, lonely human”.
Actress Jane Lynch, who appeared with Salling on Glee, said of her ex-colleague: “I know life was very, very hard for [him]. I think we all do the best we can at the end of the day. I know Salling did the best he could.”
