Watford Wallops Chelsea
The current Premier League champions were hammered by Watford 4-1 in a shock defeat last night.
The Hornets took the lead after Troy Deeney scored a penalty in the 42nd minute.
While Eden Hazard managed to score an equaliser in the 82nd minute, The Hornets secured victory through three goals in the span of seven minutes late in the game.
Chelsea went down to 10 players when Tiemoue Bakayoko was sent off after only 30 minutes on the field.
The French international was performing poorly, losing control of the ball and lunging into rash challenges, when he was yellow carded for violently bringing Etienne Capoue to the ground.
Five minutes later he was given his second yellow card of the night for clipping Richarlison, and sent off.
Javi Gracia, who only took over as Watford’s manager in January, expressed elation at the result, calling the night “unforgettable”.
Meanwhile, there have been reports that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte could be sacked if the club’s poor start to the year continues.
In his post-match press conference, Conte appeared defiant about his position: “I’m not worried about my job. I work every day and I give 120 percent, okay? If this is enough, it’s okay. Otherwise, the club can take a different decision. But I’m not worried.”
